I have been looking for two Ludwig ancestors in German records but have not been able to find them: Eobanus Ludwig was born in 1783 in Marburg, moved to Kassel in 1800 and had a son named Johann Werner in 1804. His wife and mother of Johann Werner was Elizabeth Hoffmeister, born in Kassel, daughter of Conrad Hoffmeister (captain in Napoleon's army?) and Anna Catharina Denner. Can you advise me if I can research on the internet or must I write to German sources and if so what organizations and addresses , phone numbers etc. could you supply me?
