Dear Rainer,
Thanks for your agreement for GeneaNet Germany: now we just need to find the the good person...

Dear Jacques,
we talk about that problem in genstaff-l to find a "ccordinator" for that project. I agree that genealogy.net is the server for the german GeneaNet project.
Dear Rainer,
Pascal forward me your message:

Other thing : Do you know the GENEANET project ? It is managed by 2 french guys I met in Paris last week. You can find informations at www.geneanet.org This project is managed very professionnally ans is searching for local services (e.g GENEANET Germany). Couldn't it be a good idea to include such a service in your German Genealogy Service (or the service of A. Teschler) ?
Let me know if this idea is interesting for you, I could put you in touch with these guys.
I'm in interest; would I'm able to install such program on my server?
Here few informations on GeneaNet:
Actually the system is: a central database and Perl scripts on one server, based in USA and several web site for each countries. The idea is to make those web site independant form the central server:
In a country web site there is all the forms and informations. The forms are linked to the perl scripts of the central server: The scripts are personnalized by web sites and languages. If the central system is down it's easy to move the links to a mirror.
In each country there is a coordinator. The main idea is to: - build a team in this country to develop GeneaNet (contact with genealogists and genealogical societies, lead project teams) [complex] - build a web site: mainly a copy (and eventually translation) of the forms and html pages [easy] - manage the relations with the genealogists & gensoc which participate to geneanet: kill the wrong registration (with an administration tool). [easy]
The main idea of GeneaNet is to provide a very powerful tool to make search on genealogical data. GeneaNet is only an index with is linked to a source. The powerful features are: - make a multicriteria search on a large amount of data - match own GeneaNet index with the database - Received by e-mail all the new data.
A good coordinator is someone who like communication and build a project. For the technical problems there is enough peoples to help.
Actually the is 4 full web sites: France (very successful) Belgium Netherlands (very successful) French North America
Great Brittain doesn't have all the forms.
Do you know someone who could be the coordinator of GeneaNet germany ? Do you need more informations ?
There is also a second project... http://www.es-conseil.fr/~pramona/geneabank/
regards,
Jacques.
Ps: Hope my english is not to bad...
