In a test build a new site map, I found that the following files were moved, leaving a page at the original location referring the reader to the new location: /gene/reg/BRE/bremen.htm -> /gene/reg/BRE/ /gene/wg/www_sources.html -> /gene/misc/www_sources.html /gene/www/abt/geoserv.html -> /gene/misc/geoserv.html /gene/www/abt/listserv.html -> /gene/misc/listserv.html /gene/www/abt/trans-d.html -> /gene/misc/trans-d.html /gene/www/abt/translation.html -> /gene/misc/translation.html /gene/www/emig/umzug.html -> /gene/misc/emig/ /gene/www/ghlp/let-arc.html -> /gene/misc/letters/ /gene/www/ghlp/muster.html -> /gene/misc/letters/ /gene/www/ghlp/sgg.html -> /gene/faqs/ /gene/www/ghlp/tips.html -> /gene/misc/tips.html /gene/www/tips.html -> /gene/misc/tips-d.html Unfortunately, there are 1492 links in our website to the original locations of these pages (as of the end of June). So this doesn't seem to be a good solution. Might I suggest that instead of the referring pages, we just use symlinks? We should also consider not moving pages unless we actively maintain the links to those pages, and even then better not. -- =Jim Eggert EggertJ@crosswinds.net
