Dear All,
please, find below a link to the first draft page for the "German script tutorial" - forwarded from Tim Philipp with some minor modifications.
I may have to explain to most of you the "download" page mentioned below : the idea came up in connection with the take over of Doug Schorey's pages - at least one of them rather large and detailed - much more so than existing SwissGen pages. The idea would be to have this type of information available as zip files for downloading only, and only from the Basel server. Obviously the script images could be mentioned on the "download index page" - irrespective of whether the images are available from Basel only, or from all four sites : in any case the people providing the storage space on their servers will want to know how much space we are talking about.
I would therefore invite all of you to comment on the tutorial page content, and ask our providers to voice any comments you may have on the question in which format and where the images should be made available.

I have uploaded the file tutorial.html to http://www.genealogy.com/gene/tmp/up/pages/ch/tutorial.html I did not upload all of the images but from this you can see where each image can be accessed. I am thinking at the beginning of this page there can be a link to download the whole package without going through it online. There could also be a link to the whole package from http://www.eye.ch/swissgen/data/download.htm
Maybe Dora Selig has some ideas on improvement and integration with the work already done in this area.
I do not have enough web space to store all of the images.
Regards,
Tim

Dear Jerry and Tim,
how are you getting on with your tutorial pages ? After some discussion (several people involved) within the administrators of the German Genealogy Pages it was accepted to allow some space for a tutorial on the old German script. Obviously not just unlimited space : it would therefore be useful if you could supply us with some ideas on
- how to structure the tutorial - how much storage space involved - how to coordinate this with the existing pages http://www.genealogy.com/gene/misc/scripts.html
My impression from this discussion was, that nobody really felt responsible for the above script page - in other words : it might be a good idea if all the script pages are maintained by the same people - so if you want to volunteer to take this on, just let me know or inform Dora Selig <selig@sd.id.ethz.ch> directly.
