I have just come across your Website and I hope you can help me. I am a Cree Aboriginal person from Moosonee, Ont. I presently reside in Thunder Bay, Ont. I am searching for the origination of my last name, "Iserhoff". The story is as follows; There came a Russian sailor into the Hudson & James Bay in the early 1700's. This chap did not go back on his ship but stayed and married a Cree lady and the name has lived but the recipients of this name are Cree people. Lately, while speaking to people they tell me the name is German. Perhaps you can clarify this for if you can. If it is German it would be interesting to meet the true recipients of this name.
