Provisional Update of Emigration Sources Page
I have uploaded an updated version of my Emigration Sources bibliography to the /gene/temp/up/pages as "emigrati.neu" (the files "emigrati.htm" and "emigrati.new" are incomplete, aborted transfer attempts). The only major change is in the descrption of the Liverpool and London ship lists. I am calling this update "provisional" because there are many other additions/ corrections I want to make, but Debbie Beavis has been sending me irate messages about how the information I have posted on the British records is "all wrong", and I need to get her off my back as soon as possible. Naturally, if any of you knows of any glaring errors that I need to correct or of any additional sources I should list (bearing in mind that I am concerned here with emigration records only on the state or--in the case of Bavaria and Prussia--on the provincial level), please do let me know. I am investigating the current rumor about passenger records for Le Havre for 1780-1840 being available through the Groupement Genealogique du Havre et de Seine-Maritime, but I suspect this is the card file to which I already refer. I have also ordered Uwe Reich's new book _Aus Cottbus und Arnswalde in die Neue Welt_; it is, however, only 278 pages long, so I strongly suspect that it does *not* include any lists of emigrants. Does anyone know anything about the Institut f"ur Auswandererforschung that is/was at Warnem"unde? I am planning in January to split the Emigration Sources page into 2 separate sections: (1) emigration/immigration records other than ship passenger lists, and (2) ship passenger lists and sources for the history of the sailing vessels and steamships, both German and foreign, that carried German emigrants to North and South America, Australia, and South Africa.
