Frank has made an excellent start on a geographical description of German dialects. Just two comments:

1. The map and text ignore areas that were linguistically German until WWII. I'm sure that this is a shortcoming of his source.

2. I didn't know that Italic was a German dialect. ;-) (Italic --> italisch oder, in diesem Fall, kursiv)

Uups, jetzt hab' ich's begriffen, na ja, Dienstag abend, harter Tag;-)
