[webpages-l] Mormonen ins WWW?
Wer kann was zu den "Geruechten" sagen? Guenter CG_Junkers@compuserve.com From: "Cathy Deschu" <cjdeschu@hotmail.com> on 20.1.99: Old-To: BANAT-L@rootsweb.com Here's a 4th or ???? hand rumor that I received twice before 10am this morning from 2 different folks....ahh wouldn't it be nice. Anyone able to verify this? Cathy DESCHU in PA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cathy This was in my mailbox this a.m.: "I went to the Later Day Saints today and was looking up some o f the family history and the lady who runs the History Center in Jacksonville told me that Salt Lake City is planning to go online with all the information you can find on there computers on the 20th of Feb. She just talked to them today. They are testing it right now to see if the program will work. Thought some of you maybe interested." I don't know whether it is true or not. But it might make things very interesting if it is. Just imagine being able to use the Ancestral File from home. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ////// wrote:

There is something behind this one. I'm not sure about Mormon church official titles, but I believe it was an elder that I spoke with on this subject in December. He was an extremely well-presenting man in any case, and was visiting our local Family History Center. I asked the center director what he was up to, and she said that he was in charge of all the FHCs in the region (that would be New England, I guess). Anyway, I told him that the LDS ought to put their records on the Internet, starting with the Family History Library Catalog. He said that exactly that was in the works and should be seen very soon. I don't think he was just saying something to make me happy either. Other rumors have also indicated a February announcement date. I guess we can all wait another month before giving up on this. -- =Jim Eggert EggertJ@LL.mit.edu
