Das stimmt, den Index (Namen, alphabetisch) haben oft die Pfarrer
(oder ihre Helfer) selbst angelegt, in Matriken von Boehmen gibt es 
solchen Index meistens am Ende des Buches oder auch im separatem Buch. 
Manchmal unvollstandig, immer in alter kurrent Schrift.

d.h. "transcribed" und alphabetisch sortiert, sonst nuetzen die Karten
nichts. Ich frage mich, ob man heutzutage noch das Wort "verkartet"
noch benutzt, wenn man die Daten in Computer eingibt. Ich glaube
mich zu erinnern, dass fuer die Verkartung von Kirchenbuechern
ein Programm existiert (nur fuer die Eingabe per Tippen, nicht scannen) -
weiss jemand etwas darueber?

Ich habe leider kein verkartetes Buch gesehen. Fand aber in Bestaenden der
Martin-Opitz Bibliothek "Register fuer die Kirchenmatrik Friedland 1661-1676"
- ist "Register" auch ein "verkartetes Buch"?
