[webpages-l] Web-page for notation of complex relationship
The notation is quite interesting, shall we add a link to this page - http://www.knotsystem.suite.dk/ from our www.genealogy.com/gene/wg/www_sources.html#mis ? Viele Gruesse, Dora ---------------------------------------------------- Dear Webmaster! Growing availability of advanced genetics computer programs and large lineage linked databases, increases the probability of geneticists having to deal with very complex relationships. This makes a standardised way of communicating such types of blood relationships more and more obligatory. The Knot System as defined at attached homepage is probably the first notation which scientifically correct can document blood relationships of any complexity and of unlimited generation depth. I hope you will find it interesting to pay a visit to the Knot System homepage, and I also hope that you find it interesting enough to include it in the "Miscellaneus link" section at "www.genalogy.com" homepages Yours sincerely Knud Højrup http://www.knotsystem.suite.dk/

See my comments in soc.genealogy.german on this thread for details, but the Knot System is convenient for saying exactly how two people are cousins, but it does not treat relatedness correctly because it ignores the effects of identical twins. -- =Jim Eggert EggertJ@LL.mit.edu
