I would like to know it for when I loaded pages the robot or who else ? put it with a terrifying link on the Webpage. I still have trouble to write the links in a correct way into the files. I could do some of the test using MS-Mail and AOL Gruß aus HH Helmut H. Rick, Uwe sends his file by Email: pages@genealogy.net - and the filenames are in upper case in MIME-Header. Could Uwe change it somewhere in setup?
Hmmm, that is a good question. There appear to be two unknowns here: (1) what mailer is Uwe using and
Inet_Mail_OUT v11 (according to Uwe's headers)
(2) what is the program which lies at the other end of the pages alias doing.
I can tell you what it tries to do ;-)
An incoming mail (via pages@...) is [should be]
stored as is in .../up/pages if it is an ordinary one part message torn into pieces and stored as several files in .../up/pages if it is a multipart message
The parts are [should be] converted from QP | Base64 to 8-Bit files If there is a filename given within the multipart message it is used. Otherwise a filename is made up [which sometimes fails]
I must admit that I didn't test it with more than my good old PINE program. There are some tiny differences between mailers. I thought it a useful idea for those who go online via modem in Germany where we are charged by the minute. Firing off a mail is usually quicker than establishing an ftp-connection.
If there are more people interested we could spend some time for a thorough test.

Alles klaro? Schoenes Wochenende Arthur.Teschler@uni-giessen.de
