Dear All, recently there was a discussion on how to implement a full text search feature for the German pages. I have just come across a free offer : http://www.whatUseek.com/intraSearch/ which works fast and smooth. I have added it to a preliminary page only yet (want to watch it for a while first), but you are invited to have a look at http://www.eye.ch/swissgen/asinfo-e.htm (just don't distribute this URL for the time being - it's not included in the full text search either). The only shortcoming is the limitation to a maximum of 500 pages indexed - not a problem for the Swiss pages (there are only about 140 so far, so this will last for a while) - but will likely be insufficient for all German Pages. It seems to work from a "start page" down - so possibly partial coverage could be arranged for certain subdirectories separately (?). It did work for SwissGen, without indexing pages outside /gene/reg/CH/ - but then I have implemented it on the Basel server, where these pages don't exist : not sure what happens when links point a subdirectory up, but on the same server.
