Dear Jim, ad 2 : how do you specify a subdirectory ? Hotbot is offering something similar - there the command is "+originurlpath:subdir" - at least in theory - doesn't work :-((. Is there a description of the syntax available on the web ? General comment : as you state - it's only as good as their crawler ! If we want to use it (without confusing people) someone should check which pages are actually found, and submit the missing ones. Just as an example : I have searched for my name (mentioned as page maintainer on almost 100 pages) - only 18 were found ! The same search on the Basel mirror (http://www.eye.ch) found at least 34. If this is average, many people will be confused : they were sure they had seen a word on our pages - and the search doesn't find it :-(. Doug Schorey had a search routine on a subdirectory on his pages (which have been moved to http://www.eye.ch/swissgen/schori/ in the meantime) : this relied on some script provided by his (former) provider and doesn't work on my swissgen pages. It not only worked for a subdirectory - it worked without relying on any crawler. Would one of you computer experts out there like to contact him ? His address is <dms@netcom.com>.
